  5. Resolved Question

Why won't my hamster stop sleeping?

My hamster keeps sleeping and won't wake up unless I open the cage, or stick my hand in there. She comes out to eat and drink, but not when I'm watching. I have had her for about 5 months and she is around 6 months old, and she isn't scared of me at all. She started this behavior around 4 days ago. When I get her out, she seems perfectly fine, but I noticed that her back legs hardly fit into her tube any more. She is not pregnant, though. PLEASE HELP!

Hamsters are nocturnal, so she'll sleep through the day and wake at night. If she's having trouble getting through the tube, you could put an excercise wheel in if you don't already have one. To help her lose weight you could get her some chew toys so that she has something other than eating to do. Also, you could switch to a pelleted diet. Hamsters don't like these much and will eat less. There healthy though.
